Frequently Asked Questions

  • Facial Peels

The best peel for you depends on your skin type, concerns, and desired results. We offer complimentary consultations to help determine the most suitable option.

The level of discomfort varies depending on the strength of the peel. Mild peels typically cause a slight tingling or warming sensation, while deeper peels may cause more intense sensations. However, the discomfort is usually brief and manageable.

For our non-peeling peels, you can expect no downtime or peeling.

For all other peels, here’s what you can expect:

  • Day 1-2: Skin may feel tight and shiny.
  • Day 2-3: Skin may turn red or brown as dead skin lifts.
  • Day 3-5: Peeling and flaking will occur.
  • Day 6: New skin reveals itself, and the healing process begins.

Post-peel care includes:

  • Keeping your skin hydrated.
  • Avoiding direct sun exposure and using a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
  • Avoiding picking or peeling the skin to prevent scarring.

It’s recommended to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours after the peel to allow your skin to heal properly. After this period, you can resume normal makeup application unless advised otherwise. We will go over aftercare with you on the day of your appointment.

The number of sessions needed depends on your skin concerns and goals. Mild peels may require multiple sessions for optimal results, while stronger peels might achieve desired outcomes in fewer treatments.

Results from a chemical peel can often be seen after the first treatment, with the skin appearing brighter and smoother. More significant results may require a series of treatments.

Before a facial peel:

  • Avoid using retinol, exfoliants, or any irritating skincare products for one week.
  • Ensure your skin is free of cuts, sunburns, or active infections.
  • Avoid waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams, and laser hair removal treatments.
  • Do not receive Botox or dermal fillers within 10 days prior to your peel.

This advice does not apply to non-peeling peels; it specifically pertains to our Perfection Peel and Green Peel.

  • Active Skin Infections: Avoid peels if you have cold sores, acne, or fungal infections, as the procedure can aggravate the condition and spread the infection.
  • Severe Sunburns or Skin Damage: Postpone a peel if you have a severe sunburn, open wounds, or any kind of skin damage to avoid further irritation or injury.
  • Certain Skin Conditions: Conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea may be exacerbated by peels, leading to increased redness, irritation, or flare-ups.
  • Darker Skin Tones: Some peels, especially deeper ones, can increase the risk of hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone. Specialized peels designed for darker skin types may be recommended.
  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women: Avoid certain types of chemical peels due to the potential risk of harmful ingredients being absorbed into the bloodstream.
  • Recent Use of Retinoids or Exfoliants: If you've recently used retinoids, strong exfoliants, or other aggressive skincare treatments, your skin may be more sensitive. Allow your skin time to recover before undergoing a peel.
  • History of Scarring or Keloids: Those with a history of keloid formation or scarring should approach chemical peels with caution, as the treatment could potentially worsen these conditions.
  • Autoimmune Disorders: Individuals with autoimmune disorders affecting the skin should consult with a dermatologist before getting a chemical peel, as their skin may react unpredictably.
  • Medications that Increase Sensitivity: Certain medications, such as Accutane, can increase skin sensitivity and the risk of adverse effects from chemical peels.
