How Does Tattoo Removal Work
Laser tattoo removal has come a long way. Modern technology has made treatments safer, faster, and powerful enough to fade even stubborn colors like reds, blues, and greens that older lasers struggled to remove.
At Dermaluxe Spa, we use the Enlighten III Pico Laser, one of the most advanced systems available. It delivers precise pulses of energy that break ink into microscopic particles, allowing your body to naturally clear them away. With each session, the tattoo gradually fades as your skin renews itself.
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick snap, similar to a rubber band. Treatments are quick and well tolerated, and the Zimmer Cryo 6 cooling system helps keep the skin comfortable throughout the process.
Whether your goal is complete removal or lightening for a cover up, each treatment plan is customized to your skin and ink type. Flexible package options are available to make the process simple and accessible.

Pico Laser
The laser used plays a key role in how effectively a tattoo fades. At Dermaluxe Spa, we use the Enlighten III by Cutera, one of the most advanced tattoo removal systems available. It combines multiple wavelengths with ultra fast pulses to target a wide range of ink colors, including stubborn shades like blue and green.
What sets the Enlighten III apart is its speed and precision. The ultra fast pulses break ink into tiny particles, allowing your body to naturally clear them away more efficiently. The result is faster fading, fewer sessions, and clearer results while keeping your skin healthy.

FAQs
How many sessions will it take to remove my tattoo?
The number of treatments needed varies for each client and depends on factors such as the size, depth, age, and ink colors of the tattoo. While some tattoos respond more quickly than others, most require multiple sessions to achieve the best results. We recommend spacing treatments approximately 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal properly and for optimal fading between sessions.
For a more accurate estimate based on your specific tattoo or permanent makeup, we recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation at Dermaluxe Spa.
Does tattoo removal hurt?
Tattoo removal can cause some discomfort. It’s often described as feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin, with varying levels of intensity depending on the individual and the treatment area.
To enhance your comfort, we offer numbing and/or cooling solutions during your treatments. These can significantly reduce discomfort and make the procedure more tolerable. We also utilize the Zimmer cooling device, which delivers sub-zero air to the treatment area during the procedure, further minimizing discomfort.
What's the downtime and aftercare?
While considered minimal, downtime following laser tattoo removal is important to consider. Most clients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment, however, it’s crucial to avoid strenuous exercise or activities that may cause excessive sweating for the first 24 hours. Direct sun exposure to the treated area should also be avoided for at least a week after each treatment. Mild redness, swelling, and slight discomfort are common side effects and typically subside within a few hours.
Is a consultation required?
Consultation is a Must for First-Timers.
Our consultations are complimentary (free) and are a great opportunity for us to understand your needs and expectations. We will also be able to provide you with an estimate of the price, approximate length of time, and expected results of your treatment.
Can all tattoo colors be removed?
Yes, but some colors respond better than others. Black ink is the easiest to remove, while bright colors like blue, green, and red may take more sessions. Our advanced Enlighten™ III pico laser targets a wide range of colors with multiple wavelengths for effective fading and removal.
What are the contradictions?
Before your tattoo removal session, please let us know if any of the following apply to you, as they may impact your treatment outcome or require rescheduling:
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You are taking prescription retinoid creams (e.g., Accutane)
The treatment area is irritated, inflamed, or has active acne, rash, or dryness
You’ve had a recent allergic reaction near the area
You’ve had recent sun exposure, tanning, or used self-tanning products
You have uncontrolled diabetes or an autoimmune condition
You’re currently sick with a contagious illness
You’re taking aspirin, blood thinners, antibiotics, or steroids
It’s important to share your full medical history and current skincare routine so we can tailor your treatment safely and effectively.
Can I finance treatments?
Yes, we offer financing through CareCredit to help make treatment more manageable. Flexible payment options may be available for qualified applicants, and package options are also available, including unlimited session packages.
