What is Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non surgical skin resurfacing treatment that gently exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells using fine crystals or a diamond tip. At Dermaluxe Spa, we use the advanced Dermaglow® crystal microdermabrasion system to refine skin texture, improve the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, age spots, and acne scars, and promote healthy cell renewal. This treatment also helps stimulate circulation and collagen production, revealing smoother, brighter, and more youthful looking skin. Suitable for a variety of skin types, microdermabrasion requires little to no downtime.

FAQs
Is microdermabrasion painful?
Microdermabrasion is generally a painless procedure. You may experience a mild scraping or tingling sensation as the treatment exfoliates your skin, but it is typically well-tolerated with minimal discomfort. The intensity can also be easily adjusted.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of microdermabrasion treatments you need depends on your skin goals. We typically recommend starting with a series of 3 sessions, followed by monthly maintenance for optimal results.
Is there any downtime after the procedure?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment with little to no downtime. Some clients may experience mild redness or sensitivity immediately after the procedure, similar to a slight sunburn, but this typically subsides within a few hours. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating on the first day, as sweat may cause irritation. You can resume your normal activities right away, but it’s essential to protect your skin with sunscreen, as it will be more sensitive to the sun.
Who is a good candidate for microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for most skin types and can help improve concerns such as uneven skin tone and texture, dull or congested skin, fine lines, mild wrinkles, minor acne scars, enlarged pores, and hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage. However, it is not recommended for individuals with cystic acne, extremely sensitive skin, or certain skin conditions, as the exfoliation process may cause further irritation. If you’re unsure whether microdermabrasion is right for you, a consultation can help determine the best treatment for your skin’s needs.
How do I prepare before my appointment?
One of the greatest benefits of the microdermabrasion treatment is that it’s suitable for almost every skin type and color. There’s no need to prepare; simply come in without makeup (preferably) and relax while our professionals smooth away the outer layer of your skin.
Can I wear makeup after microdermabrasion?
It’s best to wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup to allow your skin time to heal and breathe. If you must wear makeup, choose lightweight, non-comedogenic products to avoid irritation. Hydration and SPF protection are key after the treatment.
When should you avoid microdermabrasion?
Yes, certain conditions may prevent or delay treatment. Please inform us if any of the following apply to you:
Cystic acne or inflamed breakouts
Active skin infections, such as cold sores or herpes
Rosacea or skin prone to redness and inflammation
Extremely sensitive skin that reacts easily
Recent chemical peels or laser treatments (within the last 2 weeks)
Sunburn or recently tanned skin
Open wounds, cuts, or broken skin in the treatment area
Eczema, psoriasis, or other chronic skin conditions
Dermatitis or any severe skin sensitivity
Pregnancy (for precautionary reasons)
Recent Botox or dermal fillers (within the last 14 days)
These conditions may increase the risk of irritation or affect the outcome of your treatment. If you’re unsure whether you’re a good candidate, we recommend scheduling a consultation first.
