Permanent Hair Removal in Houston
Dermaluxe Spa offers advanced electrolysis in Houston for precise, permanent hair removal on all hair colors and skin types. Using the Silhouet electrolysis system, we target unwanted facial and body hair with customized treatment plans designed for long-term results.
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal treatment that works by stopping hair growth at the root. A very fine probe is inserted into each hair follicle, where heat or electrical energy destroys the follicle’s ability to produce new hair. It is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal and is effective on all hair colors and skin types, including lighter or finer hairs that laser treatments may not effectively target. Unlike laser, which reduces hair growth over time, electrolysis permanently removes unwanted hair. With each session, hair becomes weaker and finer until it eventually stops growing, leaving skin smooth and clear.
At Dermaluxe Spa, we use the advanced Silhouet Evolution XHD electrolysis system to treat unwanted facial and body hair with precision and care. Whether you are addressing facial hair, the bikini area, or stubborn individual hairs, each treatment is customized to deliver smooth, lasting results

FAQs
What’s the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?
Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal, while laser hair removal is considered long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal.
Electrolysis uses a tiny electrical current to treat each hair follicle, preventing regrowth. It’s 100% permanent and safe for all skin tones and hair colors.
Laser targets pigment in the hair to reduce growth. It’s most effective on dark hair and lighter skin, and may not work well on blonde, gray, red, or fine hair.
Electrolysis has been used safely for over 120 years. Laser hair removal has not been evaluated for long-term skin or health safety.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed depends on hair thickness, growth cycles, and the area being treated. Since hair grows in different stages, electrolysis targets each follicle at the right time for permanent removal. Most clients start with treatments every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on hair growth. As the hair becomes weaker and less dense, sessions are spaced every 3 to 4 weeks until the hair is completely gone. Because each follicle is treated individually, the process takes several months, but the result is smooth, hair-free skin—permanently!
Does electrolysis hurt?
Is electrolysis safe for all skin and hair types?
Yes! Unlike laser, which works best on dark hair and lighter skin, electrolysis is effective on all hair colors and skin tones, including blonde, gray, red, and white hairs that laser can’t treat.
How long does the hair need to be?
What areas can be treated with electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be safely used on almost any part of the body, including:
Face – Upper lip, chin, sideburns, and eyebrows
Underarms and bikini area
Fingers, toes, and hands
Hormonal hair growth areas – common with PCOS or during hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
How should I prepare before my electrolysis appointment?
Before Your Electrolysis Appointment:
* Avoid plucking, waxing, or threading for 2–3 weeks prior to treatment. The hair needs to be visible for effective targeting.
* Stay well-hydrated and avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment to help reduce sensitivity.
What's the aftercare for electrolysis?
After your treatment, it is normal to experience slight redness, sensitivity, or mild swelling in the treated area. These effects are temporary and typically subside within a few hours to a day.
Keep the area clean and avoid touching it with unwashed hands. Do not pick, scratch, or irritate the skin, as this can lead to irritation or scarring. Avoid heat, sweating, and sun exposure for at least 24 hours, including saunas, hot showers, and intense workouts.
Skip makeup, heavy skincare products, and active ingredients such as retinol or exfoliants on the treated area for 24 to 48 hours. Stick to gentle, soothing products and allow the skin to heal naturally.
Apply a soothing product such as aloe vera if needed, and always use sunscreen to protect the area once any initial sensitivity has subsided.
